High Voltage Electrician (Skilled Trade Specialist III)

About the role

The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) is seeking a journey-level high-voltage electrical worker to perform installation, connection, maintenance, and repair work in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform high-voltage electrical installation, connection, maintenance, and repair work.
• Work with electric circuits carrying in excess of 600 volts, in accordance with the National Electrical Code and Underwriter's Rules.
• Perform physical exertion, including moving objects weighing over 50 pounds, working on high poles, and in cramped quarters.
• Work rotating shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Maintain continuous operation of facilities during emergencies.

Requirements

• Four (4) years of experience working with high-voltage (600 volts and up) service, switch gear, and control wiring or large (30 horsepower or more) motors, compressors, and motor circuitry.
• Two (2) years of this experience must be in a commercial or industrial setting.
• Must be willing and available for emergency call-backs.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
• Experience: Four (4) years of experience working with high-voltage (600 volts and up) service, switch gear, and control wiring or large (30 horsepower or more) motors, compressors, and motor circuitry.
• Licenses & Certifications: Must possess a valid Maryland driver's license.

Skills

• High-voltage electrical installation and repair skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical stamina and strength to perform heavy lifting and climbing.
