High Voltage Electrical Technician

Responsibilities

• Support and comply with all Air Liquide safety, health, and environmental procedures and policies
• Comply with NFPA 70E and NFPA 70 (NEC) requirements
• Comply with all training requirements (SmartSolve, Cornerstone CBTs, Corporate, Onsite, Electrical Safety etc.)
• Provide technical assistance and expertise in the areas of medium/high voltage; synchronous and induction motors, substations, and distribution equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair 480V MCC starters, contactors and controls
• Partner with plant operations personnel to resolve electrical issues in steam boilers, water treatment systems, and electrical substation
• Ensure reliability and safe operation of 138kV/13.2kV substation
• Serve as primary customer contact for substation issues and perform switching operations as needed
• Perform substation rounds (check relays for alarm condition, ensure proper voltage level to customers, inspect substation batteries, climate control systems, etc.)
• Cover preventive maintenance (PM) of electrical equipment
• Support turnarounds as needed at pipeline facilities (ASU, Cogen, H2) by completing PM and PdM work on electrical systems (transformers, breakers, cables, motor control centers, synchronous and induction machines)
• Guide and collaborate with vendor shop repairs on high voltage equipment and motors to ensure excellent quality standards and adherence to Air Liquide standards
• Develop detailed scopes for electrical projects and maintenance activity
• Cover coordination and support for technicians, both AL and contract, to execute maintenance work
• Foster growth through mentoring and training of facility operations and technical staff in understanding the operation and maintenance of electrical systems and controls
• Maintain 95% or greater compliance in PM program and 100% EIS (Element Important for Safety) PM compliance
• Committed to advancing and maintaining the schedule for Electrical PM's
• Contribute suggestions to improve plant safety, efficiency, reliability, and quality

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• 10 yrs + in plant high voltage equipment maintenance activities
• Experience in troubleshooting high voltage transmission equipment
• Experience in troubleshooting and maintenance of high voltage motors
• Thorough understanding of safety requirements when working around HV equipment
• Full range of motion and ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Able to climb ladders and work off elevated platforms/surfaces
• Able to work in non-conditioned environment for extended periods
• Able to work in flash suit for testing and troubleshooting
• Able to work in non-conditioned environment for extended periods
