About the Role

Plans and provides appropriate classroom learning experiences for students. Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. Supervises students in various school-related settings, monitors and evaluates student outcomes, and communicates with students, parents, staff, and the community.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes assessment strategies (traditional and alternative) aligned with the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) curriculum and standards to assist in the continuous development of the learner.
  • Ensures effective communication techniques with students, parents, and all other stakeholders.
  • Engages in planned continuous professional quality improvement for self, school, and the school district.
  • Uses appropriate techniques and strategies that promote and enhance critical and creative thinking capabilities of students.
  • Implements classroom instructional strategies and materials reflecting each student’s culture, learning styles, special needs, and socio-economic background.
  • Establishes a classroom management system that maintains regulation, fosters a positive learning environment, and supports student development.
  • Plans, aligns, implements, and evaluates effective instruction and assessment in various learning environments.
  • Collaborates with peers, parents, community, and stakeholders to improve classroom educational experiences.
  • Integrates appropriate technology in teaching and learning processes.
  • Ensures adherence to safety procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education with an appropriate subject area.
  • Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in a teaching content area.

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of curriculum, instructional practices, and classroom policies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Apps.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Strategic problem-solving skills using multiple data points.
  • Ability to prepare course objectives and outlines following state and school curriculum guidelines.
  • Ability to provide instruction reflecting multiple perspectives and multicultural education.
  • Ability to infuse technology into the curriculum.
  • Ability to monitor student safety, particularly during inclusive activities.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students.
  • Ability to maintain a clean, orderly, and disciplined environment.
  • Ability to maintain records and files.
  • Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, staff, students, parents, and the community.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a specific subject area.

Working Conditions

Must be able to use office equipment and classroom tools such as computers, scanners, fax machines, and copiers. Requires effective communication and occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds. Physical demands are consistent with sedentary work, involving standing and walking for extended periods. Must work in a public-school environment with direct contact with employees, students, and the public.
