Job Summary

The Special Education (VINE) Teacher demonstrates a strong understanding of students with diverse learning needs and the ability to deliver effective, individualized instruction. This position requires proficiency with technology including Microsoft Office Suite. The Special Education (VINE) Teacher will demonstrate a passion for ministering to children through teaching and will work collaboratively with support staff and general education teachers to support student learning and ensure overall success.

Role And Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement instruction based upon student Individual Learning Plans (ILP’s) and curriculum requirements as assigned
  • Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers who have VINE students in their classes about teaching, learning, behavior, and grading
  • Aid students with intervention needs or those with other specific learning needs
  • Communicate as needed with families who have students enrolled in resource support
  • Monitor student progress weekly in all general education classes
  • Connect with Director of Special Education for 9-12th grade alignment
  • Display an excitement about working with high school students
  • Show a deep knowledge of curriculum and teach it from a Biblical perspective
  • Display the ability to connect Biblical truth to students lives
  • Demonstrate a passion for ministering to students through teaching, counseling, encouragement, and mentoring
  • Maintain a healthy learning environment for the students in the classroom by using appropriate enforcement of student behavior rules
  • Exercise open and respectful communication with students, families, co-workers, and supervisors
  • Attend professional development workshops provided by Valley Christian Schools
  • Participate in required staff meetings, events, and activities
  • Exercise open and respectful communication with students, families, co-workers, and supervisors

  • Perform other related assigned duties

Requirements

  • Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that is a consistent testimony among others

  • Attain ACSI Standard Certification within one year of employment
  • Must have and maintain a valid level one IVP fingerprint card
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both written and verbally
  • Must be able to use a computer (visual and keyboarding) for long periods of time
  • Able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) 50% of the time
  • Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
  • At times requires stooping, bending, turning, pushing, pulling, reaching and climbing stairs (2-story)
  • Use hands, fingers, arms to reach, grip and maneuver objects
  • Must be able to respond quickly to sounds (fire/security alarms)
  • Frequent walking throughout the campus

Physical Requirements

  • Use a computer (visual and keyboarding) for long periods of time
  • Able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) 50% of the time

$46,644-$74,043: Dependent on Experience/Education
