High School Special Education Teacher

Discovery Health Sciences Schools seeks a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree teacher certified in Special Education.

Teach special education students in a school setting
Show strong knowledge of mathematical concepts
Implement Special Education instructional strategies including differentiated instruction, modification of curriculum and assessments, and student accommodations
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Show knowledge of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), and relevant legal policies
Show understanding of state and district compliance and ability to upload IEPs to the SER website
Collaborate with various teachers, parents, and school leaders to advocate for students
Show knowledge of State standards and Louisiana State Standards
Show certification or interest in achieving certification in multiple areas

3+ years’ experience teaching special education students in a school setting
Show strong knowledge of mathematical concepts

Show experience with IEP development and implementation
Show knowledge of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), and relevant legal policies

Show ability to collaborate with various teachers, parents, and school leaders to advocate for students
Show knowledge of State standards and Louisiana State Standards
