About the role
A Jesuit Catholic school rooted in the tradition of cura personalis—care for the whole person—seeks a dynamic and mission-driven Religion teacher to join our faculty. This position is designed primarily for 12th grade theology.
Cristo Rey Jesuit High School serves a student body that is 98% Latino/Latina/Latine or Black. We believe student success is strengthened when educators bring diverse lived experiences, cultural competence, and a commitment to representation in the classroom, which also aligns with our Catholic mission and values. Educators from backgrounds historically underrepresented in teaching and those committed to culturally responsive instruction are strongly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement standards-based curriculum aligned with Cristo Rey Network benchmarks.
- Use formative and summative data to adjust instruction and close learning gaps.
- Deliver rigorous, culturally responsive lessons that differentiate for student needs.
- Provide targeted tutoring and academic support during office hours.
- Foster a classroom culture grounded in cura personalis and PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) principles.
- Participate in regular coaching cycles using the Danielson Framework.
- Participate actively in the professional community through collaboration with colleagues in a range of contexts.
- Contribute to the Cristo Rey community outside of classroom responsibilities.
- Partner with the full Cristo Rey community to further the mission as a college preparatory school.
- Model values consistent with Catholic, Jesuit education and service to others.
Requirements
- Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Practicing Catholic.
- Bachelor’s degree with a major, minor, or comparable credential of content expertise in the primary teaching discipline.
- Proficiency using technology to advance teaching and learning, e.g. Canvas, PowerSchool.
- Competency in designing and implementing curricula to serve a student population diverse in culture, religion, and ability.
- Commitment to the mission of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School.
- Complete Archdiocese student safety training, sign a Code of Conduct, and pass a background check.
Qualifications and Requirements

- Meet or exceed the following requirements:
- Required: Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship, Practicing Catholic, Bachelor’s degree with a major, minor, or comparable credential of content expertise in the primary teaching discipline, Proficiency using technology to advance teaching and learning, e.g. Canvas, PowerSchool, Competency in designing and implementing curricula to serve a student population diverse in culture, religion, and ability, Commitment to the mission of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, Complete Archdiocese student safety training, sign a Code of Conduct, and pass a background check.
- Prior successful middle or high school teaching experience in an urban school.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues effectively.
Compensation
$50,500 - $63,000 yearly salary.
