About the role

The successful candidate will meet and instruct assigned classes in designated locations and times. They will plan a program of study tailored to individual student needs, interests, and abilities. They will create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the students' maturity and interests. They will guide the learning process towards meeting district curriculum goals, establish clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects, and employ various instructional techniques and media.

Responsibilities

  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with physical limitations and student needs.
  • Strives to implement the district's philosophy of education, instructional goals, and objectives.
  • Achieves student learning outcomes through regular assessment and provides progress reports as required.
  • Maintains accurate records as per legal and administrative requirements.
  • Determines and addresses the learning challenges of students and seeks assistance from district specialists as needed.
  • Maintains a safe and secure learning environment by taking necessary precautions.
  • Enforces a code of conduct for the classroom and develops rules of classroom behavior.
  • Supervises paraprofessionals and provides written evaluations as required.
  • Maintains a continuous program of professional growth.
  • Takes part in the teacher evaluation process and contributes to mutually agreed-upon results.
  • Attends building and district meetings to promote communication and mutual decision-making.
  • Participates in traditional school-sponsored activities as agreed upon by the building administrator and faculty.
  • Contributes to decisions regarding district and building budgets, facilities, and curricula.
  • Maintains professional competence through ongoing learning and development.

Requirements

  • Highly qualified with required competency in the content area.
  • Appropriate content/program area educator license (Mathematics) and grade level (8-12) licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
  • Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate license; or Master’s Degree with appropriate content area license preferred and/or expected within 5 years.
