High School English Teacher

Qualifications

• Valid Indiana Teaching License
• Knowledge of current computing technologies and software applications
• Exceptional communication skills (written and oral)
• Demonstrates good sound judgment and the ability to function in a high stress environment

Responsibilities

• Implements instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
• Selects and modifies instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
• Affirms changing curricular needs and offers plans for improvement.
• Maintains effective and efficient record keeping procedures, including the regular updating of grades electronically.
• Provides a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.
• Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis.
• Models professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community.
• Assumes responsibility for meeting his/her course and school-wide student performance goals.
• Maintains professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, attending all faculty and department meetings, and being involved with the school improvement process.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the school administration.

• Routine lifting and/or moving up to 35 pounds, occasional lifting and/or moving up to 36-49 pounds, and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 plus pounds with team assistance
• Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus required
