Roles and Responsibilities
- Collaborates with Principal, Assistant Principal, and Director of Student Services in enforcing the behavioral and academic standards and expectations of Argosy
- Establish and promote a positive and welcoming school culture that supports high academic achievement
- Thoroughly considers disciplinary consequences; oversees discipline programs and actions
- Completes all required forms related to disciplinary issues (i.e. detention notices, ISS/OSS notices, etc.)
- Maintains accurate records in alignment with DESE regulations
- Contacts parents/guardians regarding such discipline; meets with parents to discuss disciplinary circumstances; meets with staff on behalf of student when necessary
- Lead Bullying Prevention and Intervention Processes and communication with families regarding outcomes of bullying investigations
- Supports the Title IX Investigation Process as needed
- Uses LiveSchool to keep track of student disciplinary issues on a daily basis and informs Principal of scholars with serious and/or multiple infractions; communicates with appropriate stakeholders and supports with appropriate actions
- Makes sure the number of In-School and Out-of-School student suspensions are monitored and notified the Director of Student Support when scholars have reached a number of suspensions requiring the completion of a Manifestation Determination Meeting
- Attends meetings with parents, scholars, and grade level team
- Oversees Restorative Justice Coordinator and restorative justice initiatives including but not limited to re-entry meetings, cultural celebrations, community service, and peer mediations
- Invites parents and guardians to meet when their scholar serves an In School Suspension
- Schedules and attends Out of School Suspension Hearings
- Plans re-entry meetings for scholars who have served an out of school suspension, in collaboration with the Restorative Justice Coordinator and Principal
- Collaborates with teachers and counselors, attends team leader and grade level team meetings; addresses academic/behavior concerns with the team and is open to receiving and giving feedback
- Sets-up proactive meetings with parents regarding behavioral/disciplinary issues; assists Principal /Assistant Principal in academic and disciplinary meetings, as needed, including retention meetings
- Collaborates with Assistant Principal, Principal, Directors, and School Counselors to address needs of scholars with multiple/repeated disciplinary issues as well as student relationships
- Develops, implements, and supervises new scholar incentive programs to improve relationships between staff and scholars and maintain a positive school culture
- Manages scholar arrival to ensure an organized, safe, warm welcoming for scholars upon arrival to school
- Responsible for the evacuation of the school building during emergency and drill situations, such as fire drills and lockdown drills; trains staff to be prepared for such events outlined in the Multi-Hazard Plan
- Aids Principal with supervision of instructional staff; in collaboration with the Principal, provides insight to instructional staff regarding scholar behavior, classroom management strategies, etc.
- Aids with orientation of new staff members, interviews staff applicants upon request
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or related area required; related years of experience may be substituted for education requirement
- 3-4 years prior administrative/instructional leadership experience in an urban and/or charter school setting strongly preferred

- Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000
