Schedule & Pay
- Wednesdays, 9:00am–11:30am at LPW/BOE, Room 12
- Two 12‑week semesters: Fall starts Monday, September 21, 2026; Spring starts Monday, January 25, 2027
- $50.08/hr
Qualifications
- Demonstrate proficiency in the skills of reading, writing, and mathematics and be able to instruct RLA and Social Studies according to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS)
- Demonstrate proficient computer skills
- Meet the requirements of the Windsor Board of Education for this position
- Maintain Adult Education Endorsements (endorsement 107) and provide a copy to the program facilitator
- Adhere and comply with all mandates set forth by the Connecticut State Department of Education
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate knowledge of the subject(s) to be taught
- Demonstrate knowledge of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS)
- Demonstrate knowledge of the Connecticut Competency System (CCS), including the Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment (CASAS) Competencies
- Use results from CASAS Pre/Post Assessment to plan and differentiate instruction based on learner's abilities and goals
- Effectively communicate with students
- Provide opportunity for students to receive out‑of‑class instruction and/or assistance
- Work with Program Facilitator in the implementation of the Connecticut Competency System (CCS)
- Use the Blended Learning Environment Model for their students
- Attend staff meetings at the beginning of each semester and as need arises (meetings scheduled by the adult education facilitator)
- Strongly encouraged to support the adult education program and students by attending the annual Awards Ceremony
- Strongly encouraged to support the adult education program by attending the annual Connecticut Association for Adult and Continuing Education (CAACE) Conference held in March
- Be on time for all scheduled classes
- Supervise assigned class and not leave students unsupervised at any time
- Effectively organize time, space, materials, and equipment for instruction
- Establish a positive learning environment, enforcing student behavior contracts as outlined in the student handbook
- Follow up with students who have poor attendance
- Enter timely and accurate student attendance in the LACES reporting system
- Effectively assess student needs and progress using the CASAS Assessment System with guidance from the Program Facilitators
- Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development as it relates to the teaching‑learning process
- Help students develop positive self‑concepts
- Participate in staff development offered in accordance with the professional needs of the staff and the instructional objectives of the program
- Agree and adhere to the Windsor Public Schools Professional Growth Policy P4120
- Be knowledgeable and comfortable using technology for planning and instruction including but not limited to computers (laptop/desktop), iPad, Chromebook, Smart board, projector, etc.
- Be knowledgeable and comfortable using Gmail and Google Docs
