High School Assistant Girls Soccer Coach - Hammond Central HS

Description

The high school assistant coach is responsible to the athletic director/building principal for the planning, coordinating, and directing of specific athletic activities to which he/she has been assigned.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Establish objectives for the program and develop a plan for their implementation.
• Coordinate athletic activities with the normal school program.
• Develop vigorous activities that promote physical health and skill development.
• Foster leadership, citizenship, and self-discipline through sportsmanship.
• Be knowledgeable of relevant rules, regulations, and policies.
• Prepare an athletic budget, select officials, requisition equipment, arrange schedules, and handle other operational duties.
• Ensure all participants have completed required physical examinations and have signed the Parent & Physician's Certificate.
• Work with the Director of Physical Education and Athletics to check player eligibility, prepare lists, and submit IHSAA entry lists.
• Develop and maintain sound public relations with parents and media.
• Attend departmental meetings, clinics, and other professional development activities.
• Cooperate with other athletic staff in establishing conduct, dress, and appearance guidelines.
• Supervise activities beyond the school day as assigned.

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge of the sport being taught.
• A thorough understanding of participants' physical, mental, and emotional aspects.
• Strong teaching skills in fundamental sport techniques.
• Desirable character and personality traits.
• Athletic and moral integrity.
• Able to establish and maintain positive relationships with pupils, parents, staff, and administration.
• Adequate knowledge of applicable rules and regulations.

Employment Information

• Recommended annually by the building principal and approved by the Superintendent.
• Compensation determined by the School City of Hammond agreement.
• Performance evaluated annually.
