You reformat a job posting into a role that channels elite personal achievement into mentoring K–12 students who’ve rarely encountered someone of your caliber. Alpha uses AI-driven 1-on-1 instruction to compress core academics into roughly two hours per day, freeing the rest for life skills, self-directed projects, and authentic development. At Alpha’s most demanding campuses, students need more than oversight—they need a credible mentor whose track record exemplifies excellence, someone who can assess group dynamics, set high expectations, and guide students through obstacles, distractions, and insecurity. This role is not instructional; AI handles academic delivery. Your responsibility is to inspire, coach, and hold students accountable to the same rigorous standards you’ve applied to yourself.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Conducting one-on-one and small-group coaching using Coachbot analytics and student performance data to pinpoint obstacles, establish high-bar objectives, and ensure accountability for execution
  • Facilitating structured life-skills workshops designed for mastery, drawing on credible narratives from your own high-achievement background, and verifying mastery through Alpha's Test2Pass assessment framework
  • Establishing the cultural standard each morning via focused kickoff sessions that reinforce excellence expectations campus-wide
  • Monitoring student progress continuously and adapting coaching tactics based on evidence, not intuition
  • Cultivating trusted mentoring relationships with students and their families through unwavering standards, consistency, and documented motivation strategies

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Delivering lessons, developing curriculum, or assessing assignments—Alpha's AI-powered academic platform manages instruction; you manage drive and accountability
  • Presenting to large classroom cohorts of 30 students (your focus is intensive coaching in small settings, not large-group instruction)
  • Supervising other personnel or pursuing an administrative career path (this role centers on direct student influence, not organizational structure)
  • Attending faculty meetings or dealing with institutional bureaucracy (your schedule remains student-focused)
  • Compromising standards to meet targets (if a student achieves 99%, your task is to identify what prevented 100%)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least one documented instance of extraordinary achievement in a highly competitive, globally recognized field (examples: medals in national or international competition, top-tier university with distinction, highly selective firm or fellowship, elite performing arts institution, or founding and scaling a successful venture)
  • At least 3 years of experience in student coaching, youth mentoring, athletic coaching, or leadership positions where you measurably improved others' performance
  • Willing to work on-site at an Alpha campus in Orange County, CA; Palo Alto, CA; San Francisco, CA; South Bay, CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Boston, MA; New York City, NY; or Kirkland (Seattle), WA (relocation support provided)
  • Legal right to work in the United States

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Background in elite competitive athletics (varsity D1, national team, or professional level) with experience coaching or mentoring younger athletes
  • Experience in high-accountability environments like management consulting, investment banking, or military leadership
  • Track record of youth development through mentoring in non-academic settings (community organizations, after-school programs, sports camps)
  • Comfort presenting to and building trust with high-expectation families paying premium private school tuition
