About the Role

You believe that refusing to lower standards is the greatest kindness you can offer a student. Your background includes competition, accomplishment, or achievement at a level most people only encounter in stories: elite-level athletics, graduation with distinction from a top-tier university, employment at a highly selective firm, or a venture you founded and grew yourself. Now imagine channeling that same intensity into a classroom of K-12 students who have never had someone with your credentials invested in their success, holding them to expectations they didn't believe they could meet.

Alpha leverages AI-powered individualized instruction to help students complete their core academics in roughly two hours each day. The remaining time is reserved for developing life skills, pursuing passion projects, and fostering genuine personal growth. At Alpha's most rigorous campuses, students require more than oversight. They need a credible mentor whose personal track record defines the standard: someone capable of gauging group dynamics, establishing culture, and guiding students through resistance, distraction, and internal doubt.

Your responsibility is not instruction. AI manages the academic delivery. Your responsibility is to inspire, coach, and enforce the same rigorous standards you have applied to yourself. Forty percent of your time involves direct one-on-one and small-group coaching sessions that identify obstacles and define ambitious targets. Another forty percent is spent facilitating structured life-skills workshops designed for mastery rather than engagement. The final twenty percent is devoted to morning sessions that establish a daily culture where mediocrity has no place.

The trajectory here emphasizes depth over scope. You begin by mastering Alpha's framework and earning student trust. Within months, you become the person students rely on to push them beyond their perceived limits. The payoff is continuity: the same students, year after year, maturing with your guidance. It is witnessing a student who avoided eye contact in September deliver a confident presentation to a room of adults in May. This position remains student-centered. Students are the objective, not a pathway to another opportunity.

Responsibilities

What You Will Be Doing

  • Conducting one-on-one and small-group coaching sessions leveraging Coachbot analytics and student data to identify obstacles, define ambitious objectives, and enforce accountability for execution
  • Facilitating structured life-skills workshops focused on mastery, drawing on credible narratives from your own elite background, and evaluating mastery through Alpha's Test2Pass framework
  • Establishing the daily cultural standard each morning via focused sessions that reinforce high-performance expectations campus-wide
  • Monitoring student progress continuously and modifying coaching approaches based on data rather than intuition
  • Cultivating trusted mentor relationships with students and their families through rigorous standards, consistency, and formalized motivation strategies

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Delivering lessons, creating curriculum, or evaluating assignments — Alpha's AI-driven academic system manages instruction; you manage motivation
  • Presenting to a classroom of 30 students (your focus is intensive coaching in small settings, not large-group instruction)
  • Supervising other personnel or advancing through administrative ranks (this role centers on direct student impact, not organizational progression)
  • Attending faculty meetings or managing institutional bureaucracy (your schedule remains student-focused)
  • Compromising standards to satisfy metrics (if a student achieves 99%, your task is to determine what prevented 100%)

Requirements

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least one documented instance of exceptional achievement in a highly selective, globally recognized field (examples: national or international competition medals, top-tier university with distinction, highly selective firm or fellowship, elite performing arts institution, or founding and scaling a successful venture)
  • At least 3 years of experience in student coaching, youth mentoring, athletic coaching, or leadership roles where you measurably elevated others' performance
  • Willing to work in-person at an Alpha campus in Orange County, CA; Palo Alto, CA; San Francisco, CA; South Bay, CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Boston, MA; New York City, NY; or Kirkland (Seattle), WA (relocation support provided)
  • Legal right to work in the United States

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Background in elite competitive athletics (varsity D1, national team, or professional level) with experience coaching or mentoring younger athletes
  • Experience in high-accountability environments like management consulting, investment banking, or military leadership
  • Track record of youth development through mentoring in non-academic settings (community organizations, after-school programs, sports camps)
  • Comfort presenting to and building trust with high-expectation families paying premium private school tuition
