Hennepin Health Member Services Representative

About the role
This is a full-time, benefit-earning position internally classified as an HH Service Representative. In this role, you will:
- Relay information to Hennepin Health members about health plan policies and procedures.
- Respond to member inquiries regarding their benefits, claim inquiries, and balance due statements from providers.
- Access the provider network, medical authorization requirements, and review the navigation and scheduling of transportation services for health plan members.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service in a call center setting.
- Navigate health care systems and perform data entry.
- Use medical billing/coding systems such as Health Care Financing Administration Common Procedure Coding System or International Classification of Diseases (ICD-9).
- Demonstrate patience, compassion, and empathy while addressing member needs.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data privacy practices and regulations.
Requirements
To qualify, you must have:
- Six months or more of experience in a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) or managed care setting, providing customer service within a call center environment, and/or enrollment services experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years of experience using call center telephone systems.
- Experience working with Medical Assistance, Minnesota Care, and Special Needs Basic Care products and their respective benefit sets.
- Knowledge of managed care organizations, health plan requirements, industry best practices, mandates, statutes, and regulations.
- Ability to multi-task, including understanding multiple product lines of business and multiple levels of benefits within each product.
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, including telephone etiquette.
- Basic research and analytical skills, along with good organization and planning abilities.
Skills
- Ability to navigate and type on a computer while on the phone.
- Proficiency in navigating multiple system applications.
- Demonstrated time management skills.
Location and Schedule
This hybrid position requires on-site work at the Health Services Building, 525 Portland Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55415, and remote work as job duties require. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin. New Employee Orientation (NEO) is in-person in downtown Minneapolis.
