About the role

Hemmingway's Restaurant at Holiday Inn Oceanside is seeking a part-time Line Cook to join their team. This position offers opportunities for growth within the hospitality industry and includes cross-training options.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food items according to recipes and standards
• Maintain consistent food preparation and plate presentation for the pool area and guests
• Ensure all food items are properly stored, labeled, and rotated to maintain freshness and quality
• Prep the kitchen before the start of the shift, including prepping food for service each day and stocking the line, pantries or walk-in refrigerators/freezers
• Make sure all supplies needed are available and ready for use, which may include preparing items in advance or performing simple tasks such as stocking the station with plates and bowls
• Prepare items requested from the kitchen, coordinating with other cooks to ensure food is ready at the right time and in the right order
• Clean the kitchen and assist with other stations as needed, including disposing of garbage, cleaning utensils, pots, and pans, and cleaning cooking surfaces
• Unload delivery trucks and store inventory correctly
• Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverages

Requirements

• At least one year of cooking experience in a full-service restaurant
• Willingness and ability to work a varied schedule that includes evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Experience preparing meals for all meal periods (breakfast, lunch, and dinner)
• Ability to walk and stand for a full shift, push/pull up to 50 lbs, and lift up to 50 lbs

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience as a Line Cook or similar role
• Strong culinary skills
• Knowledge of food safety guidelines and regulations
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
