About the Role

ECU Health Cancer Care, in partnership with Outer Banks Health Cowell Cancer Center in Nags Head, NC, is seeking a Board-Eligible or Board-Certified Hematology Oncology fellowship-trained Physician to join their cancer program. This opportunity offers coastal living while working in a state-of-the-art accredited cancer center. Experienced applicants are preferred.

Facility Overview

Outer Banks Health Cowell Cancer Center, a 15,000 square-foot state-of-the-art facility, opened in January 2024. It provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary cancer care, including medical oncology, radiation oncology, and an infusion center. The center is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (ACoS-CoC) and the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC).

  • Coastal oncology practice team includes 1 Hematology Oncologist, Radiation Oncology medical director, 2 oncology advanced practice providers, 3 oncology certified nurses, Nurse Director, Assistant Nurse manager, and breast health certified nurse navigator
  • 100% outpatient with shared after-hours/weekend phone call only; no inpatient consult service
  • Strong referral base with over 30 providers
  • One of six community hospitals nationwide with an accredited cancer program from the ACoS Commission on Cancer
  • NAPBC Breast Accreditation and ACRO accredited Radiation Therapy Center
  • Hospital services available for general surgery, radiology, and pathology needs
  • Integrative Medicine provider for consultation and referral
  • Multidisciplinary cancer committee structure with monthly tumor boards and bi-monthly breast tumor boards
  • Support from the ECU Health Cancer Center multidisciplinary team in Greenville, NC

Requirements

  • Board-Eligible or Board-Certified in Hematology/Oncology
  • Fellowship-trained in Hematology Oncology
  • Accepted visas: J-1 or H-1B
