Job Description
Assists in the evaluation and treatment of patients. Documents care in medical records. Conducts patient interviews and documents histories, psychosocial histories, health status, and medical problems. Performs physical examinations and specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under physician direction. Diagnoses medical problems, develops care plans, and prescribes treatment. Orders and schedules laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures. Communicates procedure details to patients. Arranges consultations and referrals. Educates patients on health habits, self-examinations, behavior management, follow-up assessments, and other issues. Formulates professional development plans. Attends educational in-services. Participates in professional activities and organizations. Maintains and updates patient records. Collects and interprets diagnostic data. Trains and teaches other healthcare professionals. Performs related responsibilities as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or Physician Assistant program
- Licensed as an advanced practice nurse in Georgia by the Georgia Board of Nursing and certified as a Nurse Practitioner by ANCC or equivalent body, or certified as a Physician's Assistant by NCCPA
- Licensed as appropriate in Georgia
- One year of direct experience in one or more high acuity clinical specialties
- PALS, BLS, or ACLS may be required in some areas
