Helper 3

Responsibilities

• Move equipment and retrieve equipment as needed.
• Dig and perform other manual labor tasks.
• Stand by for fire safety and use a fire extinguisher.
• Climb onto structures and scaffolding.
• Operate rigging and hoisting devices (e.g., chokers, chain falls, come‑along) to position equipment or materials.
• Conduct preventative maintenance such as lubrication and repairing worn parts.
• Follow directions from the supervisor or journeyman.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be able to meet all physical demands (see Physical Requirements).
• Experience using industrial hand tools and power tools.
• Reliable transportation and ability to work 7 days as needed.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools.
• Good problem‑solving abilities.
• Good aptitude and manual dexterity.
• Good reading comprehension.
• Ability to work with others – team player.
• Effective communication with co‑workers and supervisors.
• Commitment to Zachry values and safety rules and regulations.
• Preferred: Zachry ROF’ed employee or former Zachry employee.
• Preferred: Basic mechanical knowledge.
• Preferred: Experience on an industrial construction site.
• Preferred: Formal/technical education.

Physical Requirements

Employees must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, sit, and lift repeatedly. Communication will involve talking and hearing. The role requires using arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools. Workers may need to pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 50 lb. Work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms or scaffolding using appropriate fall‑protection. Must work in all weather conditions (heat, rain, cold, wind) while wearing required personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, high‑visibility vest, leather gloves, steel‑toed boots).

Work Environment

This position operates in office, warehouse, maintenance shop, and active industrial process settings. Employees are exposed to moderate to high noise levels and routinely work around operating equipment, vehicles, tools, machinery, and industrial processes.
