About the role
This position is located within the office of Agro Consumer Services (ACS), Richland Parish. The incumbent will work with the Agricultural Commodities Commission and assist in maintaining high agricultural standards through inspections. The role requires obtaining a Federal Grain Inspection Service (FGIS) certification for aflatoxin testing within 90 days of hire.
Responsibilities
- Test for aflatoxin levels in corn or observe elevator personnel during aflatoxin testing.
- Take required samples of agricultural commodities from barges and railcars using probes or monitors.
- Assist with the disposal of samples after all required tests and holding periods are complete.
- Perform a visual inspection of barges and railcars before loading and ensure all noted irregularities are corrected.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
The minimum qualifications for this position are no experience or training required. The functional requirements include obtaining an FGIS aflatoxin certification, moderate light lifting, walking and standing for 8 hours, climbing stairs and occasionally ladders, reaching above shoulders, and carrying specialized equipment.
