Helicopter Pilot IFR

Location: Montoursville, PA | Full-time rotational position (7 days on, 7 days off)

About the Role

Life Flight operates eight SPIFR EC145's and one BK117C1. As Pilot-in-Command, you are responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of flight assignments related to the conveyance of patients in need of emergency services. You will determine whether to accept or decline flight assignments based on weather conditions or other safety factors.

Responsibilities

• Plan flight assignments and obtain briefing information regarding purpose of the flight, weather, operating procedures, and special instructions.
• Conduct start-of-shift briefings with assigned medical, communications, and ground personnel.
• Ensure the aircraft is prepared pre-flight per the General Operating Manual; inspect, load, equip, fuel, and staff the aircraft for flight assignments.
• Supervise and assist with loading and distribution of cargo and passengers, ensuring weight and balance are within prescribed limitations.
• Ensure cargo is properly secured and emergency equipment is aboard.
• File, activate, and close flight plans.
• Complete flight logs, records, and maintenance forms accurately.
• Check the aircraft discrepancy log prior to flight to confirm all discrepancies are corrected or properly deferred.
• Log all mechanical discrepancies and inform maintenance personnel.
• Notify the Life Flight Communications Center of the aircraft’s service status.
• Participate in post-flight debriefings.
• Keep navigation charts current and up to date.
• Maintain proficiency as Pilot-in-Command and in SPIFR operations.

Requirements

• FAA commercial pilot with an instrument rating.
• 2000 hours total time or 1500 hours total time with ATP rating.
• 1500 hours helicopter time.
• 1000 hours helicopter Pilot-in-Command time.
• 75 hours of actual or simulated instrument time (at least 50 hours in actual flight).
• 1000 hours helicopter turbine time.
• 500 hours cross-country flight time.
• 100 hours of night flight time.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).
• Minimum of 1 year of related work experience (preferred).
