Helicopter Line Pilot IFR

Life Flight operates eight SPIFR EC145’s and one BK117C1. A $25,000 bonus is offered for pilots, along with a competitive salary and benefit package. Relocation assistance is reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Additional financial incentives include 1.5X base salary for extra shifts.

About the Role

Responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of flight assignments related to the conveyance of patients in need of emergency services. The pilot-in-command processes flight assignments received from the Life Flight Communications Center and determines whether to accept or decline a flight based on weather conditions or other safety factors.

Responsibilities

• Plans flight assignments and obtains briefing information regarding purpose of the flight, weather, operating procedures, and special instructions.
• Conducts a start-of-shift briefing with assigned medical, communications, and ground personnel.
• Ensures the aircraft is prepared pre-flight per the General Operating Manual; inspected, loaded, equipped, fueled, and staffed for flight assignments.
• Supervises and assists with loading and distribution of cargo and passengers, ensuring weight and balance are within prescribed limitations.
• Ensures cargo is properly secured and emergency equipment is aboard.
• Files, activates, and closes flight plans.
• Ensures proper completion of flight logs, records, and maintenance forms.
• Checks the aircraft discrepancy log prior to flight to confirm all discrepancies are corrected or properly deferred.
• Logs all mechanical discrepancies as they occur and informs maintenance personnel.
• Notifies the Life Flight Communications Center of the service status of the aircraft.
• Participates in post-flight debriefings.
• Keeps navigation charts current and up to date.
• Maintains proficiency as Pilot-in-Command and in SPIFR operations.

Requirements

• FAA commercial pilot with an instrument rating.
• 2000 hours total time or 1500 hours total time with ATP rating.
• 1500 hours helicopter time.
• 1000 hours helicopter Pilot-in-Command time.
• 75 hours of actual or simulated instrument time, with at least 50 hours in actual flight.
• 1000 hours helicopter turbine time.
• 500 hours cross-country flight time.
• 100 hours of night flight time.
• Current Federal Aviation Administration Class II Flight Physical.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).
• Valid Driver’s License.

Schedule

7 days on, 7 days off.

Position Details

• May require sitting for long periods in a helicopter or office environment.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Exposure to non-conventional motion, noise, vibration, jet fumes, and extreme temperatures.
• Working conditions in or near aircraft and/or an aircraft hangar, with potential exposure to loud noise, fumes, gases, odors, dust, and mechanical/electrical hazards.
• Travel may be required.
• Employee may not exceed 250 pounds in flight gear.
