Job Summary

Responsible for ensuring aircraft and weather conditions are airworthy for medical transport. Complies with FAR, AIM, GOM, and Air Methods policies. Operates aircraft safely and legally, performs pre-flight checks, and completes required documentation.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Operate aircraft safely and legally
• Perform pre-flight checks before every flight
• Ensure aircraft is airworthy and sign off in Daily Flight Log
• Conduct walk-around inspections before and after flights
• Final authority for operations and safety
• Ensure medical flight team is familiar with aircraft and medical systems
• Complete required documentation
• Conduct detailed flight planning with little notice
• Participate in meetings, activities, projects, and community outreach

Additional Job Requirements

• Regular scheduled attendance (7/7 schedule - 12-hour shifts)
• Must be available for regular work hours

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree (or equivalent) from two-year college or technical school with 2-5 years’ related experience
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Weight limit of 250 pounds and age under 70 years old
• At least 2000 total flight hours with 1500 in category
• Instrument rating (ATP rating in category meets this requirement)
• Fixed wing multiengine rating required for twin-engine aircraft
• Commercial single-engine land rating required for single-engine aircraft
• First or Second Class FAA Medical certificate required

Compensation

Compensation is commensurate with flight and EMS experience, ranging from $82,900 per year.
