Heavy Vehicle Mechanic

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Diagnose problems with heavy duty vehicles and schedule repairs
  • Perform minor and major repairs on trucks and trailers
  • Perform regular diagnostic tests on trucks
  • Conduct Commercial Vehicle Inspections as well as quarterly inspections
  • Keep equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades
  • Operate a pallet jack or forklift
  • Maintain parts inventory, and company vehicle
  • Perform other miscellaneous tasks as assigned by the Regional Manager or Supervisor

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of diesel mechanic experience with heavy vehicles
  • ASE Diesel certification in both diesel engines and electrical systems, with T2 and T6 focus areas considered an asset
  • A degree in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance is considered an asset
  • Experience maintaining Cummins diesel, Peterbilt and Freightliner vehicles
  • Ability to diagnose and repair engines, electrical systems, and brake components
  • Excellent organizational and technical communication skills, interpersonal skills, and an ability to influence and to deal tactfully with a wide range of personalities
  • An exceptional work ethic with a positive, analytical, and safe work attitude
  • Basic skills in the use of computer-based programs such as MS 365, and CMMS systems
  • A clean Motor Vehicle Record(s) (MVR & PSP) with no suspensions
