Responsibilities
- Analyzes operation of systems and components of heavy trucks to determine performance using engineering specifications and test equipment.
- Inspects mechanical and electrical systems, diagnoses and repairs systems.
- Disassembles systems, examines parts for defects and excessive wear.
- Repairs or replaces defective parts, adjusts settings and reassembles according to specifications.
- Operates electronic testing equipment, precision instruments and gauges, hand tools, portable power tools, welding and cutting equipment and cranes and hoists.
- Welds and fabricates parts as needed.
- Performs other tasks as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid CDL-A.
- Experience in heavy truck mechanics preferred but not required.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
Skills
- Knowledge of heavy truck maintenance and repair.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals.
- Basic knowledge of welding and fabrication techniques.
