Heavy Truck Driver (non-key)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate heavy trucks to transport materials, equipment, and personnel between work areas
- Load and unload trucks with or without helpers
- Perform minor mechanical repairs and routine maintenance on vehicles
- Maintain vehicle in good working order and ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Adhere to Fort Rucker Logistics Readiness Center (LRC) Transportation Motor Pool
- Report accidents, incidents, and vehicle maintenance issues promptly
- Support other grounds maintenance activities as needed
Required Skills and Abilities
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of experience operating heavy trucks (straight truck over 4 tons, usually 10 wheels)
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) or equivalent as required by state and federal regulations
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and minor mechanical repair
- Ability to comply with safety regulations and protocols
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Regularly talk, listen, and write
- Frequent use of foot/ankle motions, hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Stand, walk, sit; and reach with hands and arms
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
