Heavy Structures Project Manager

About the Role

Roy Jorgensen Associates, Inc. (Jorgensen) is a world leader in maintenance management, providing facility and highway infrastructure consulting, maintenance, and management services for over 65 years. This full-time Heavy Structures Project Manager position involves managing heavy structures asset management operations on comprehensive highway maintenance projects, traveling to various sites to complete structures and bridge repairs and maintenance.

The role requires a wide range of responsibilities, including planning work, scheduling and managing crews, structures repair analysis, preparing project reports, interfacing with government clients, and adhering to federal, state, and local regulations as well as company policies. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment, possesses strong organizational and problem-solving skills, and can effectively lead teams in both office and field settings.

Responsibilities

• Manage operations for the Division.
• Motivate and develop a team of skilled and semi-skilled individuals.
• Coordinate financial planning and budget projections to assist senior managers.
• Track and report contract performance relative to plan, contract, and company targets.
• Work with Regional/Project Managers to develop short-term and long-term maintenance repair plans.
• Perform analysis to improve field prosecution, crew efficiency, and maximize operational safety.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages for presentation to clients and corporate operations centers.
• Lead, direct, and manage field maintenance crews and office staff.
• Analyze field accomplishment data and prepare reports, statements, and projections.
• Manage project field emergencies 24/7.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, construction project management, or a related field.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience in structure repair, project management, team leadership, and direct client-facing responsibilities.
• Familiarity with DOT contract operations.
• Technical experience with road construction or bridge maintenance.
• Highly efficient organizational skills in a multi-faceted, long-term project environment.
• Proven success in mentoring, training, developing, and motivating a team.
• Ability to rapidly develop a competent understanding of technical roadway maintenance specifications.
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor.
• Effective communicator at all professional levels.
• Working knowledge of short- and long-term contract budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and revenue analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual (English/Spanish).
• Professional Engineer license.
• Engineering field operations professional experience.
• Military/Veteran leadership experience.

Work Environment

• Project Field (60%): Outside environment around highway/facility infrastructure.
• Divisional Project Sites (25%): Multiple sites throughout the region and U.S.
• Construction/Maintenance Offices (10%): Project office compatible with industry standards for construction field offices.
• Client Office (5%): Government-style professional offices within proximity to the project office.

Based in South Florida. Position requires flexibility, including potential weekend and night work, and availability to respond to emergency weather events and client emergencies.

Pay

$130K - $150K annual salary.
