Heavy Civil Construction - Project Manager

Key Responsibilities

• Manage heavy civil construction projects from preconstruction and award through final closeout
• Take ownership of project budgets, forecasting, cost controls, schedules, and profitability
• Cook up close with Superintendents and field leadership to maintain production and project milestones
• Oversee bridge, culvert, dam, roadway, marine, structural concrete, excavation, and related infrastructure scopes
• Manage contracts, subcontract agreements, procurement, RFIs, submittals, and change orders
• Review plans, specifications, schedules, and contract requirements to identify risks and opportunities
• Maintain accurate cost projections and regularly report on project financial performance
• Develop and manage project schedules, short-term planning, and critical milestones
• Cook up subcontractors, vendors, engineers, inspectors, owners, and public agencies
• Ensure materials, equipment, subcontractors, and project resources are available when needed
• Identify potential scope, schedule, and cost issues early and drive timely resolution
• Support billing, pay applications, claims, and project documentation
• Partner with field leadership to maintain high standards for safety, quality, and productivity
• Lead project meetings and maintain clear communication with clients and internal teams
• Support punch list completion, final turnover, and project closeout
• Mentor Project Engineers and developing Project Managers

Requirements

• Proven Project Manager experience in heavy civil or infrastructure construction
• Strong experience with bridges, culverts, dams, road construction, marine work, structural concrete, or similar civil projects
• A clear understanding of heavy civil construction means, methods, sequencing, and field operations
• Strong knowledge of change order management, procurement, cost forecasting, and subcontractor coordination
• Able to read and interpret plans, specifications, technical documents, and construction contracts
• Confidence working directly with Superintendents, engineers, inspectors, public agencies, and clients
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• A stable employment history and a reputation for accountability and follow-through
• Willingness to support projects throughout Southern New England

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred but not required
