Project Manager - Heavy Civil Construction Location: Rhode Island / Southern New England Employment Type: Full-TimeCompensation Base Salary: $150,000 - $250,000, depending on experience Competitive benefits package and strong long-term career opportunityRole Overview A long-established heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to take ownership of complex infrastructure projects across Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.The company delivers challenging bridge, culvert, dam, roadway, marine, structural, and related civil projects. This position is ideal for a proven Project Manager who understands how heavy civil work is built and can successfully manage the financial, contractual, and operational sides of a project.The company is focused on quality rather than volume and is looking for an exceptional candidate with strong heavy civil experience, a stable employment history, and a reputation for delivering successful projects. For the right individual, leadership is prepared to move quickly and offer compensation at the top of the market.Key ResponsibilitiesManage heavy civil construction projects from preconstruction and award through final closeoutTake ownership of project budgets, forecasting, cost controls, schedules, and profitabilityCoordinate closely with Superintendents and field leadership to maintain production and project milestonesOversee bridge, culvert, dam, roadway, marine, structural concrete, excavation, and related infrastructure scopesManage contracts, subcontract agreements, procurement, RFIs, submittals, and change ordersReview plans, specifications, schedules, and contract requirements to identify risks and opportunitiesMaintain accurate cost projections and regularly report on project financial performanceDevelop and manage project schedules, short-term planning, and critical milestonesCoordinate subcontractors, vendors, engineers, inspectors, owners, and public agenciesEnsure materials, equipment, subcontractors, and project resources are available when neededIdentify potential scope, schedule, and cost issues early and drive timely resolutionSupport billing, pay applications, claims, and project documentationPartner with field leadership to maintain high standards for safety, quality, and productivityLead project meetings and maintain clear communication with clients and internal teamsSupport punch list completion, final turnover, and project closeoutMentor Project Engineers and developing Project ManagersWhat They're Looking ForProven Project Manager experience in heavy civil or infrastructure constructionStrong experience with bridges, culverts, dams, road construction, marine work, structural concrete, or similar civil projectsClear understanding of heavy civil construction means, methods, sequencing, and field operationsExperience managing large project budgets, schedules, contracts, and financial reportingStrong knowledge of change order management, procurement, cost forecasting, and subcontractor coordinationAbility to read and interpret plans, specifications, technical documents, and construction contractsConfidence working directly with Superintendents, engineers, inspectors, public agencies, and clientsStrong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skillsStable employment history and a reputation for accountability and follow-throughWillingness to support projects throughout Southern New EnglandDegree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred but not requiredWhy This Opportunity Stands OutTop-of-market compensation for an accomplished heavy civil Project ManagerOpportunity to take ownership of challenging and highly visible infrastructure projectsFlexibility to work from the company's Rhode Island office or remain closely connected to projects in the fieldEstablished contractor with deep regional roots and a strong reputationDirect access to experienced company leadership and a newly strengthened operations teamCulture that values tenure, loyalty, practical judgment, and quality performanceProject Managers are trusted to lead their work and make meaningful decisionsStrong long-term opportunity with a multi-generational contractorFast and straightforward interview process for an exceptional candidateIf you are interested in this opportunity do not hesitate to apply!
