About the role

This role is part of HDR’s Transportation Business Group, focusing on shaping systems that move people and goods safely, efficiently, and sustainably. You'll work on a variety of projects including highway design, iconic bridge construction, transit, passenger and freight rail, aviation, federal transportation ports, and marine infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, directing, and monitoring all aspects of large multi-discipline transportation projects or medium-sized projects with high technical complexity.
  • Establishing client relations and participating in marketing, contractual design, and production meetings.
  • Conducting schematic design development and contract document work sessions at project sites.
  • Coordinating the staffing and workload of the team to ensure project completion on schedule.
  • Working with the Business/Accounting Manager, Project Controller, or Company Controller for project reviews.

Requirements

  • MS degree in Structural Engineering or equivalent.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Minimum 10 years of bridge / structural design experience, with a focus on PennDOT projects.
  • Experience using MicroStation and typical structural analysis programs and bridge design software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the LRFD Bridge Design Code.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, communication skills, and ability to work with various teams.
  • Mentoring and teaching staff.
  • Excellent marketing and business development skills.
  • Experience managing staff, clients, and contracts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred MS degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Preferred 10+ years of bridge / structural design experience.
  • Preferred experience with PennDOT projects.
  • Preferred proficiency with MicroStation and bridge design software.
  • Preferred experience using Microsoft Office and MS Project.
  • Preferred leadership skills.
  • Preferred experience managing staff, clients, and contracts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum 7 years related experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years project management experience.
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the position.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
