Heavy Equipment Welder

Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently cut, lay out, fit, and weld sheet metal and other metals or alloys to fabricate or repair equipment
- Interpret blueprints and follow detailed instructions for daily projects
- Perform repairs and plant maintenance using grinders, wire brushes, cutting torches, and other welding tools
- Fabricate parts and components as needed with welding machines and oxy-acetylene torches
- Conduct pre- and post-inspections of equipment and vehicles, ensuring compliance with company policies
- Conduct routine maintenance and minor servicing of welding equipment and supplies
- Uphold company policies and OSHA/MSHA safety regulations at all times, including the use of PPE
- Maintain a professional, positive attitude with co-workers, supervisors, and clients
- Consistently demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Technical education or certificate in welding and fitting preferred
- Valid state-approved welding certification preferred (not required)
- Experience with TIG, MIG, and STICK welding methods
- Proficient with a range of welding tools, including grinders, generators, drill presses, lathes, punches, shears, and band saws
- Strong understanding of various metals and alloys
- Adequate understanding of reading blueprints, safety rules, and maintenance instructions
- Effective communicator in one-on-one and group settings
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, climbing, and standing for extended periods
- Commercial Driver’s License (Class B) is a plus
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Frequently required to climb, balance, and perform tasks involving physical agility
- Regularly sit, climb, and use hand signals or equipment; occasionally stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, or reach above shoulder height
- Lift and move objects weighing up to 25-50 lbs as needed
- Work primarily outdoors, often in extreme weather and environmental conditions
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions; exposed to jobsite hazards such as moving machinery, high places, airborne particles, and loud environments
- Must have specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, to operate equipment safely
