Essential Functions
- Safe and responsible loading/unloading of construction equipment
- Safe and responsible operation of tractor trailer
- Inspect vehicle for proper and safe operating condition before and after each trip
- Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major problems to the supervisor
- Clean equipment on a regular basis
- Maintain a DOT driver's log and other required transport documentation, adhere to all local, state, and federal (FMCSA) regulations and ensure DOT compliance at all times
- Familiar with oversize/overweight regulations in the state in which we operate
- Communicate effectively via 2-way radio and cell phone with supervisor and other team members
- Adjust driving accordingly to changing road/traffic conditions
- Complete and submit all paperwork in a timely manner
Competencies
- A Class A CDL with tanker, hazmat and doubles/triples endorsements
- 3-5 years of experience hauling heavy equipment
- Clean driving record, trucking experience and knowledge of FMCSA Regulations
- Uncompromising focus on safety by properly following company policies and MSHA/DOT/DEQ regulations for safe working procedures and protection of the environment
- Professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required
- Ability to do basic math
- Minimal supervision required
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
- Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
Position Demands & Environment
- Personal protective equipment required on a regular basis, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, and as needed, safety-toed boots, respirator, protective clothing, gloves and other protective equipment
- Outdoor environments which may include exposure to extreme temperatures and weather
- Walking, standing, sitting, shoveling, sweeping, raking, demonstrating manual dexterity, climbing stairs and ladders, and working on elevated platforms, possibly for extended periods
- Occasional moving/lifting of up to 50 pounds during the course of the work day
