About the role
The Training Instructor at Yancey Bros. Co. is responsible for developing and conducting training programs to enhance the skills of employees and occasionally customers in various aspects of machinery and equipment. This role also involves teaching safety topics and conveying the company's Mission, Vision, and Values.
Responsibilities
- Confer with management and staff to determine training objectives and technical needs.
- Create and implement training programs, including using outlines, text, handouts, tests, and laboratory exercises.
- Lecture on safety, installation, programming, testing, maintenance, and repair of machinery and equipment, following outlines, handouts, and text materials.
- Demonstrate proper procedures and answer questions from participants.
- Observe participants in the classroom and lab settings to ensure learning.
- Administer written and practical exams to assess understanding and competency.
- Create performance reports to evaluate learning.
- Facilitate instruction at an expected rate of 75% of available time.
- Schedule and secure equipment, training aids, training locations, and classroom materials.
- Update and develop training aids used in the classroom.
- Deal with vendors.
- Administer written and practical exams and write performance reports to evaluate trainees' performance.
- Participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to obtain necessary skills.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Training Manager.
Qualifications
- A strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of tools applicable to the position.
- Strong sense of urgency and desire to provide superior customer service.
- The ability to take direction and work in a team environment.
- Experience in at least two of the following areas: Machine/Engine Electronics, Hydraulics, or Diesel.
- Skilled in basic computer applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Acrobat, and other applications used in building or presenting course material.
- Effective communication through email, including sending and receiving notes, attachments, meeting notifications, and working with a calendar function.
- Ability to interpret technical instructions and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Valid Driver License.
Skills
- Caterpillar Certified Instructor (or ability to obtain).
