Heavy Equipment Operator

How You Will Make An Impact
- Operate excavators, loaders, dozers, backhoes, skid steers, and rollers safely and efficiently on active jobsites.
- Excavate trenches and install critical water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and drainage systems according to project blueprints.
- Execute precise grading, trenching, backfilling, and site preparation tasks to meet engineering specifications.
- Conduct mandatory daily equipment inspections and perform basic preventive maintenance to ensure fleet reliability.
- Read and interpret grade stakes, construction plans, and complex utility layouts to guide structural accuracy.
- Collaborate closely with field crews, pipe layers, and supervisors to maintain high daily productivity and safe excavation zones.
- Identify and document potential site hazards, existing underground utilities, or equipment deficiencies immediately.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of verifiable experience operating heavy equipment in civil construction environments.
- Direct operational knowledge of underground utility installation, drainage systems, or heavy civil earthwork.
- Proven ability to navigate heavy machinery safely around active utility lines, open trenches, and ground crews.
- Strong track record of professional reliability, punctual attendance, and strict compliance with safety regulations.
- Possession of a Valid TX Drivers License.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Hands-on experience working with modern GPS machine control systems.
- Possession of an active OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Prior experience operating on municipal infrastructure projects for the City of Houston, Harris County, or TxDOT.
- Strong bilingual communication skills in English and Spanish.
