Heavy Equipment Operator

About the role

The Village of Cooperstown is seeking a Heavy Motor Equipment Operator to perform construction, road maintenance, excavation, and municipal equipment operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy machinery including bulldozers, excavators, loaders, backhoes, graders, dump trucks, and other equipment to complete assigned projects safely and efficiently.
• Perform routine equipment inspections, identify maintenance needs, and report mechanical issues to appropriate personnel.
• Load and move materials, grade surfaces, dig trenches, clear land, and assist with construction or repair projects.
• Follow all safety regulations, traffic laws, and organizational policies while working in various weather and site conditions.

Requirements

• Possession of a valid New York State CDL Class A or B license or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment.
• Experience in the operation of heavy equipment.
• A valid driver’s license and appropriate certifications or commercial driver’s license may be required.

• Experience operating heavy machinery.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Reliability, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to workplace safety.

Pay
