About the role

This position is primarily responsible for operating at least one of three pieces of heavy equipment—front-end loader, dozer, or excavator—to efficiently recover raw materials from pond floors without damaging the pond floor. The equipment will also be used to move stockpiled material or load trucks.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct safety inspections at the beginning of each shift; record meter readings, mechanical condition, and any issues; notify Mobile maintenance of problems.
  • At the end of the shift, record ending meter reading, sign the checklist, and submit it to the shift supervisor.
  • Visually verify clearance from obstacles or other vehicles before moving equipment.
  • Using a front-end loader, load salt into waiting salt trucks within 6–7 minutes per truck.
  • Using a front-end loader, load potash into waiting potash trucks within 3–4 minutes per truck.
  • Complete a daily load sheet recording trucks loaded and loading times; submit to the supervisor at the end of each shift.
  • Using a dozer, push harvested material into designated storage areas based on grade and quality to enable plant feeding at required rates up to 510 tph.
  • Reassign to pond crew during harvest shutdowns as directed by the pond supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Previous experience or education demonstrating ability to oversee assigned area and perform listed tasks.
  • PC literacy and proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access; ability to navigate an ERP system to issue work requests and review inventory.
  • Ability to communicate in English clearly and concisely, including via radio.
  • Basic math proficiency and data assembly skills.

Essential Job Functions

  • Regularly sit, use hands to finger/handle/feel, and talk or hear.
  • Stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Walk on wet and uneven surfaces; climb stairs and/or ladders to tanks and platforms.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds with assistance.
