About the role

The primary role of a mobile equipment operator at Haydon involves the safe operation of various heavy equipment vehicles. The company serves multiple sectors including commercial, heavy civil, preconstruction, landscape, and building information modeling.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment vehicles safely, proficiently in at least one of the following: loader, haul truck, motor graders, scrapers, compressors, pumps, derricks, shovels, tractors, water pull, bulldozers, forklifts, gannon tractors, water trucks, or front-end loaders.
  • Move, excavate, and grade earth, erect structures, or pour concrete, and assist in training on additional equipment.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures, standard practices, and safety regulations while operating equipment.
  • Perform maintenance and repair tasks as necessary.
  • Coordinate machine actions with other crew members and respond to hand or audio signals.
  • Ensure proper fuel levels and check for equipment issues.
  • Record material and equipment usage.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of related operating experience.
  • Understanding of technical skills including controlling operations of equipment, gauges, and indicators.
  • Knowledge of government processes and regulations.
  • Ability to pass DOT and OSHA drug tests and MVR background checks.
  • Physical capability to handle constant conditions associated with operating heavy equipment, including climbing, standing, and repetitive motions.

Qualifications

  • General educational knowledge acquired through a high school diploma or GED.
  • Strong understanding of construction safety and OSHA requirements.
  • Competence in heavy machinery operation.
  • Good comprehension of technical skills like controlling equipment and gauges.
  • Abide by all relevant government processes and regulations.
