Description

Under general supervision, operates heavy equipment (i.e. wheel loader, truck loader, compactor, dump truck and various other equipment) related to the daily operations of the landfill.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Valid Utah Commercial Driver's License (CDL) appropriate to the equipment operated (Class A)
• Experience in customer service
• Six (6) months of experience operating heavy equipment
• Computer experience desirable
• Knowledge of hazards and applicable safety precautions for equipment operation
• Able to operate controls of vehicle, repeatedly using wrists and hands
• Able to work in extreme hot and cold environmental conditions
• Able to lift in excess of 75 pounds without adverse consequences
• Able to climb in and out of vehicles repeatedly

Responsibilities

• Manage green waste materials
• Create compost product
• Build roads
• Water and sweep roads
• Place, compact, and daily cover solid waste
• Load finished products into public or private vehicles
• Answer customer questions about product usage
• Load transfer trucks and other operations within the transfer station
• Transport solid waste from Transfer Station to the North Valley Landfill

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Knowledge of landfill and composting process helpful
• Knowledge of hazards and applicable safety precautions for heavy equipment operation
• Knowledge of equipment maintenance, capabilities, limitations and safe operations
• Able to work in extreme hot, cold, wet, and dusty conditions
• Able to lift 75 lbs. without adverse consequences
• Able to establish satisfactory working relationship with fellow employees and the general public
