Job Summary

Bullitt County Stone is developing a new underground limestone mine at our Shepherdsville, KY location and is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic.

About the Role

Bullitt County Stone is an underground limestone mine/quarry. This role requires previous experience as a mechanic working on heavy equipment. The role will be responsible for performing repairs, routine maintenance, and inspections on a wide variety of mining and quarry equipment and fixed plant equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs, routine maintenance, and inspections on a wide variety of mining and quarry equipment and fixed plant equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair a wide range of service issues that affect major components such as engines, brake systems, transmissions, torque converters, hydraulic systems, drive train components, heating/cooling and electrical systems, as well as other systems generally encountered in the industry.
  • Perform heavy or major maintenance repairs as needed.
  • Perform routine scheduled maintenance on heavy equipment and trucks.
  • Complete maintenance and work order repair records.
  • Inspect machines for abnormalities or defects.

Qualifications

  • Uncompromising focus on safety excellence.
  • Minimum of three years of experience working on heavy equipment.
  • Heavy equipment parts familiarization including parts catalogs, procurement, handling, storage, and cost of heavy equipment parts.
  • Ability to operate mobile equipment.
  • Ability to stoop, push, kneel, twist, and lift 70lbs.
  • Able to work with limited supervision and schedule own work.
  • Able to work in all kinds of weather conditions.
  • Able to develop working relationships with other employees and vendors.
