About the role

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic position at Super Products is located in Merrillville, Indiana. The Mechanic will perform service and repairs on truck-mounted vacuum equipment, including troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
  • Effectively read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Perform all scheduled PM inspections of chassis, vacuum body, hydraulic, electrical, air and water systems
  • Conduct all repairs within DOT or OEM standards and service to return rental equipment "Ready to Rent" status
  • Perform and document "check in" and "check out" inspections of fleet equipment
  • Maintain and organize shop and storage areas ensuring proper storage of flammable items
  • Administer DOT inspections
  • Document and maintain records of all repairs and inspections
  • Work independently and as part of a team

Requirements

  • Possess solid understanding of the function, operation, and maintenance of truck-mounted vacuum equipment
  • Must demonstrate solid understanding of mechanical and hydraulic system and electrical troubleshooting
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical data, drawings, and schematics
  • Ability to administer DOT inspections
  • Possess basic computer skills
  • Must be organized and possess the ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated, shows complete accountability, is timely in all assignments
  • Own and supply a basic set of hand tools and storage box

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum three (3) years, verifiable experience as a mechanic
  • Experience of truck mounted vacuum equipment -- preferred

Skills

  • Solid understanding of mechanical and hydraulic system and electrical troubleshooting
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical data, drawings, and schematics
  • Ability to administer DOT inspections
  • Basic computer skills
  • Organized and possesses the ability to multi-task
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivated, shows complete accountability, is timely in all assignments
