Heavy Equipment/ Large Front End Loader Operator

About the role

Carolina Metal Recyclers (CMR) is hiring a physically active, hands-on Heavy Equipment Operator to work in a fast-paced, outdoor scrap yard environment. If you’re experienced with heavy machinery and thrive in rough, industrial settings—this job is for you. You’ll operate a variety of equipment including front-end loaders, forklifts, and skid steers.

Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM | Saturdays, 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Responsibilities

• Operate a large front-end loader to load scrap metal into trucks, railcars, and hoppers
• Experience with scale on bucket of loader is a plus
• Perform daily equipment checks, basic maintenance, and routine greasing/cleaning
• Communicate clearly with team members over two-way radio
• Work safely and effectively in a rugged, outdoor industrial environment

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience with heavy equipment preferred
• Proven ability to operate front-end loaders, forklifts, and skid steers
• Comfortable with physically demanding work and outdoor conditions (heat, cold, dust, noise)
• Reliable, safety-minded, and a true team player

Pay

$17-$22/hour (based on experience)
