Heavy Equipment Fleet Mechanic - Coppell, Texas

About the role

The Diesel and Gas Truck/Tractor and forklift mechanic at MEI Rigging & Crating provides maintenance for the company's fleet of Ford and Dodge service trucks (both gas and diesel 250 thru 450), forklifts (6k lb. to Versa Lift 60/80k), Peterbilt and KW tractors, and Landoll/KS RGN flatbed trailers. Our team is dedicated to ensuring our fleet remains operational and reliable.

Responsibilities

• Performs mid-level mechanic work on gas and diesel vehicles, routine PM service, brake service, and hydraulic systems.
• Determines vehicle condition through inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.
• Completes preventive maintenance schedules, installs component and part upgrades, controls corrosion, and completes winterization procedures.
• Overhauls, assembles, disassembles, and replaces assemblies, components, parts, or systems, hydraulics, and performs machine shop operations.
• Adjusts and aligns bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
• Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems.
• Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
• Operates shop equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for extensive and complex repairs.
• Manages supplies by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
• Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishments, exploring opportunities to add value, and striving for peak performance.

Requirements

• Minimum ten (10) years proven fleet mechanic experience.
• Preferred qualifications include construction industry experience, ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment, hand, power, pneumatic tools, and rigging experience.
• Excellent attention to details, thoroughness, and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Performing general physical activities requiring considerable use of arms and legs and moving whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials up to 50 pounds.
