Heavy Equipment Mechanic
About the role
Knife River is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic for its Utah division. The position requires independent and team-based work, with occasional travel and exposure to extreme weather conditions. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience with construction equipment, with a preference for heavy paving equipment. Responsibilities include diagnosing components, troubleshooting, repairing, communicating, and documenting.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair various types of construction equipment
- Communicate effectively with team members and clients
- Document repairs and maintenance activities
- Work independently and as part of a team
- Handle tasks in extreme weather conditions
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of experience with construction equipment
- Experience with heavy paving equipment is a plus
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot component issues
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Preferably certified or have technical school experience
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Physical ability to perform tasks in extreme weather conditions
