Heavy Equipment Field Technician (Mechanic)
About the role
At EquipmentShare, we’re hiring a Heavy Equipment Field Technician (Mechanic) at our rental facility in Tuscaloosa, AL. This role is part of a dynamic team committed to transforming an industry stuck in the past with innovative technology, real-time support, and a caring team.
Primary Responsibilities
- Create, assign, and monitor work orders
- Track machine service intervals
- Order parts
- Diagnose issues using real-time data from hundreds of makes and models
- Practice safe job practices for repairs
- Maintain complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on various rental and customer equipment
- Aid in the training of lower-level technicians
- Document work performed in a timely manner
- Assist with equipment and parts pick-up and delivery
- Stay updated on OSHA requirements (preferred)
- Travel to customer job sites for repairs and maintenance (when required)
Other Duties, Assigned as Needed
- Participate in company-provided training
- Engage in community service (up to 16 hours/year)
Schedule
Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with potential for overtime after 40 hours.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or trade school certificate preferred
- Experience in field service, maintenance, and repair
- Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools
- Extensive knowledge of construction equipment and schematics
- Superior customer service, teamwork, and communication skills
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Must be at least 21 years old to operate company vehicles
- Physical ability to move, stand, stoop, and bend
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Clean-shaven appearance for certain customer sites (if required)
- Pass a 10-panel drug screen
Skills
- Advanced mechanical aptitude and tool proficiency
- Knowledge of construction equipment and schematics
- Excellent customer service and teamwork skills
- Effective communication skills
- Understanding of OSHA requirements (preferred)
