Heavy Duty Mechanic

About The Position

Extreme Excavating is expanding its shop team and seeks a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join their well-established civil construction company in Kamloops, BC. They offer local work, competitive wages, and a progressive benefits package. This is a full-time permanent position with a minimum of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with significant overtime opportunities.

Job Description

• Safely repair and maintain a wide range of heavy civil construction equipment
• Ongoing supportive communication with management to ensure clarity on daily priorities and repair needs for the fleet
• Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations and streamline work processes
• Perform daily safety and maintenance checks
• Ensure the shop, tools, and service truck are clean and organized
• Effectively work in all weather conditions
• PRACTICE workplace safety

Qualifications

• Completion of Interprovincial Heavy Equipment Technician Certification (or equivalent experience)
• Class 5 DL license
• Knowledge of operation of front-end loaders, dozers, graders, compactors, and other heavy equipment
• Knowledge of equipment maintenance and storage procedures
• Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
• Basic knowledge of record keeping systems and computer applications
• Welding experience is an asset

Schedule

10-hour shifts, Day shift, Monday to Friday, with potential for overtime.
