Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic

About the role

The Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic position is available at BSNC Regional Services, a subsidiary of Bering Straights Native Corporation. Located in Nome, AK, this role works closely with the Equipment Superintendent and Operations Manager to ensure all heavy-duty equipment is maintained and operational.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Equipment Superintendent and Operations Manager to maintain all heavy-duty equipment and keep it in safe, working order.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records of all work done to equipment.
• Maintenance may include fueling, lubrication, preventative maintenance, welding, fabrication, repairs and rebuilds.

Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience: 5+ years of Mechanical experience in Heavy Equipment, including loaders, excavators, and haul trucks.
• License: Valid Alaska Driver’s License.

Qualifications

• Knowledge: Knowledge of Cat Operating systems, ability to troubleshoot and repair as necessary.
• Skills: Ability to order necessary parts to complete maintenance and repairs as necessary, ability to work independently without supervision, ability to work with computers to trouble shoot various systems on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles.
• Knowledge: Basic knowledge of relevant technologies or tools – e.g., Microsoft 365, communication platforms, or industry-standard software.
• Communication: Knowledge of customer service practices – principles of providing quality service and managing inquiries professionally.
• Knowledge: Knowledge of data privacy and confidentiality principles – awareness of proper handling of sensitive information.
• Time Management: Communication skills (written and verbal) – ability to convey information clearly and professionally.
• Problem Solving: Attention to detail – producing accurate, error-free work.
