About the role
We are seeking an experienced Heavy-Duty Marine Diesel Mechanic to join our team as a Road Mechanic. In this role, you will provide on-site diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of heavy-duty marine diesel engines and related systems. This position requires travel to marinas, shipyards, and other waterfront locations to service our diverse client base.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair heavy-duty marine diesel engines (e.g., Detroit Diesel, Cummins, Perkins, John Deere, etc.), transmissions, and propulsion systems.
- Conduct scheduled maintenance, including PM needing mechanic qualifications, fuel system cleaning, and cooling system flushes, ensuring equipment reliability.
- Provide mobile repair services, equipped with a company service truck, while maintaining professionalism at client locations.
- Diagnose and repair marine electrical systems, including alternators, starters, batteries, and controls.
- Service and repair hydraulic systems used in marine applications.
- Complete work orders, inspection reports, and service documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, both on-site and during travel.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably in the marine industry.
- Trade certification in heavy-duty diesel mechanics (preferred but not mandatory).
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, transmissions, and propulsion systems. Familiarity with diagnostic tools and software.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs.), work in confined spaces, and tolerate various weather conditions.
- Strong verbal and written communication for client interaction and report writing.
- Willingness to travel extensively and work flexible hours, including weekends and emergencies, as needed.

Schedule
- Monday through Friday schedule including after hour calls as needed on rotation.
- On call rotation.
- Weekends as needed.
