Heavy Civil Project Manager - Charlottesville, VA Area

About the role

Caton Construction Group, one of The Caton Companies, seeks a Project Manager for their market in the Charlottesville, Virginia area. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing heavy highway construction projects, possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, and be a team player.

Responsibilities

• Effectively manage project budget and ensure project meets projected/required margins
• Develop project schedule and update on a regular basis
• Ensure overall project quality control
• Create and maintain all project-related documentation and correspondence
• Prepare analytical reports for presentation to upper management
• Collaborate with field management to ensure successful resolution of issues
• Approve all equipment or personnel changes and requisitions
• Plan for and organize project staff according to project requirements
• Conduct weekly meetings with project team
• Submit accurate and timely payment requisitions
• Demonstrate thorough understanding of contract terms and specifications
• Demonstrate thorough understanding of project schedule, key project milestones, and reasons for delays
• Oversee the issuance of subcontracts and supplier purchase orders
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

This position requires a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Construction Management and/or equivalent work experience, with 5+ years of experience managing civil heavy/highway projects. Knowledge of computer software including HeavyJob, BlueBeam, and P6 is a plus.
