About the role
Caton Construction Group, one of The Caton Companies, seeks a Project Manager for their market in the Charlottesville, Virginia area. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing heavy highway construction projects, possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, and be a team player.
Responsibilities
- Effectively manage project budget and ensure project meets projected/required margins
- Develop project schedule and update on a regular basis
- Ensure overall project quality control
- Create and maintain all project-related documentation and correspondence
- Prepare analytical reports for presentation to upper management
- Collaborate with field management to ensure successful resolution of issues
- Approve all equipment or personnel changes and requisitions
- Plan for and organize project staff according to project requirements
- Conduct weekly meetings with project team
- Submit accurate and timely payment requisitions
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of contract terms and specifications
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of project schedule, key project milestones, and reasons for delays
- Oversee the issuance of subcontracts and supplier purchase orders
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
This position requires a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Construction Management and/or equivalent work experience, with 5+ years of experience managing civil heavy/highway projects. Knowledge of computer software including HeavyJob, BlueBeam, and P6 is a plus.
