About the Role

As a Working Lead - Heat Treat at RTX Corporation, you will oversee and guide heat treat operations to ensure quality and efficiency. You will lead a team, manage daily tasks, and drive continuous improvement initiatives on the production floor. Your role is critical in maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity in heat treat processes.

Responsibilities

  • Assign work to ensure production meets business needs.
  • Ensure team members have the skills, tools, and materials needed to complete assigned tasks.
  • Monitor availability of WIP (Work in Progress).
  • Set plans for the next job run and participate in proper cell setup.
  • Audit operator performance for adherence to standard work and productivity goals.
  • Attend and support production meetings, providing status updates on critical production items and communicating obstacles or delays to leadership and upstream teams.
  • Update metric boards and track daily output against goals.
  • Confirm employee readiness through training and share performance feedback with the Cell Supervisor.
  • Perform EH&S inspections and conduct daily and strategic preventative maintenance.
  • Spot-check calibration and audit the work of operators.
  • Provide employee communication, engagement, and performance feedback (coaching).
  • Assist with process improvements, root cause corrective action (RCCA), and problem-solving.
  • Conduct cross-functional problem-solving and explain advanced functioning.
  • Mitigate part issues and report quality issues to the appropriate stakeholders, providing support as needed.
  • Manage and support gage calibration and ensure test pieces are checked.
  • Operate equipment as required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma (or equivalent, e.g., G.E.D in the U.S.) or vocational/technical education in a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment and become multi-skilled in various operations.
  • Must be a leader capable of working across multiple operations.
  • Ability to multitask and work overtime as needed.
