Heart Failure Cardiologist
About the Role
The Heart Failure (HF) Section in the Division of Cardiology at The MetroHealth Medical Center is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible HF Cardiologist to join a growing team of HF providers at the HF Care Center (HFCC). This is an academic position with a faculty appointment at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) School of Medicine, offering protected time for teaching and research.
About the Team
The HFCC at MetroHealth is run by a collaborative team of providers, including:
- HF-trained, board-certified cardiologists
- HF-trained nurse practitioners
- HF-certified nurses and nurse coordinators
- A clinical pharmacist
The team has established clinical programs for managing patients with:
- Various types of heart failure
- Pulmonary arterial hypertension
- Cardiac amyloidosis
- Cardio-oncology
- Muscular dystrophy
The HFCC collaborates with regional heart transplantation centers to identify and evaluate candidates for advanced HF therapy and co-manages patients post-left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation through the Shared Care LVAD program. The HFCC is also an active participant in multicenter randomized clinical trials and has received multiple Get With The Guidelines (GWTG) Gold-plus certifications for implementing guideline-directed medical therapy for HF patients.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical care for patients with heart failure and related conditions
- Engage in teaching and research with protected time
- Participate in multidisciplinary programs and clinical trials
- Collaborate with regional transplantation centers and LVAD programs
Requirements
- Board-certified or board-eligible in cardiology and heart failure
- Completion of postgraduate training in cardiology and heart failure
- Preferred interest in cardio-obstetrics to address growing patient needs
