About the role

The Nurse Aide I assists in providing patient care under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse. The role involves performing various personal care tasks, serving and collecting food trays, assisting with patient transfers, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Performs personal care tasks such as bed baths, tub baths, showers, sitz baths, mouth care, skin care, hair care, and nail care.
  • Serves and collects food trays, feeds patients, records dietary intake, distributes ice, water, and nourishments.
  • Maintains hygiene and cleanliness by measuring and recording intake and output, applying and removing catheters, collecting and testing specimens, and managing drainage devices.
  • Assists with bowel and bladder training, applies and removes dressings, and performs range of motion exercises.
  • Monitors patients in restraints, provides hand-off communication, reports and documents information, and assists with postmortem care.
  • Participates in CPR, observes patients for safety, and provides instructions to patients and family members as delegated.
  • Performs blood glucose monitoring and retrieves blood products as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an approved Nurse Aide Training Program or student nurses meeting the listing requirements of the DFS Nurse Aide Registry required.
  • Current listing with the DFS Nurse Aide Registry as a Nurse Aide I required.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider certification required.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to lift and support the weight of 51 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment and supplies.
  • Must speak and understand English with the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Manual and finger dexterity required.

Pay

Pay Range: $19.80 - $29.70

Schedule
