About the role

The Nurse Aide I assists in providing patient care under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse. The role involves performing various personal care tasks, assisting with meals, and monitoring patient health parameters.

Responsibilities

  • Performs personal care tasks such as bed baths, tub baths, showering, sitz baths, mouth care, skin care, hair care, and nail care.
  • Serves and collects food trays, feeds patients, and records dietary intake.
  • Distributes ice, water, and nourishments; measures and records intake and output.
  • Avoids and collects specimens (urine, feces, sputum).
  • Applies and removes catheters, conducts enemas, and provides perineal and catheter care.
  • Maintains suction systems, makes beds, and performs PM care.
  • Takes and records vital signs, patient weight, and height; turns and positions patients.
  • Monitors patients in restraints for safety, circulation, hydration, and nutrition.
  • Assists with postmortem care and provides hand-off communication.
  • Documents information related to assigned duties and reports any issues.
  • Assists with patient transfers, transfers, and range of motion exercises.
  • Initiates or participates in CPR and provides continuous observation.
  • Provides instructions to patients and family members as delegated.
  • Performs fingerstick for blood glucose monitoring and retrieves blood products.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of an approved Nurse Aide Training Program or student nurses meeting the listing requirements of the DFS Nurse Aide Registry.
  • Current listing with the DFS Nurse Aide Registry as a Nurse Aide I.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider certification.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of growth and development principles applicable to the patient population served.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Manual and finger dexterity.

Pay

$19.80 - $29.70 per hour.

Schedule

Full-time hours with a weekly schedule of 40 hours.
